There will be a court no matter if we want it or not (Zëri)

Naser Sertolli writes today in this daily that the process of the establishment of a court which would treat suspected war crimes in Kosovo is unstoppable. “This was told to us by one of the heads of the international missions in Kosovo, who coming from a friendly country, suggested that we should support, respectively vote for it,” writes Sertolli.

According to him, the process of voting at the Assembly for this court is only because members of Kosovo legislation want to feel important and show that they are part of the game. In fact, he says, when major issues such as this one are concerned, no one asks for their opinion.

Sertolli says that approval of the court would mean public admission of the fact that Kosovo has fragile institutions.  There is no doubt that the happiest for the establishment of this court will be Kosovo’s judges and prosecutors, who would not have to accuse “those who are beyond the law, the powerful ones,” who have become so by ravishing millions of the public funds.  Opening of this court would have a healing effect on these judges and prosecutors, who used to “get sick” each time they faced a file of “heroes,” he says.

”Finally, Kosovo opinion should support such court for the fact that in our journey towards European integration, there will be no possibility to accuse us for eventual lack of the rule of law, it will not be our fault,” concludes Sertolli.
