Deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo voted the draft law on ratification of the agreement between Kosovo and the EU, on extension of EULEX’s mandate in Kosovo, with 89 votes for, 22 against and two abstentions. This opens way to the special court which will deal with the alleged crimes of KLA.
Adem Grabovci from Democratic Party of Kosovo stated that this party believes on the clean war of KLA and added that Kosovo will prove this. “We believe on our partners, on support of the United States of America,” said Grabovci, while speaking about the support of this party to the court.
Ismet Beqiri from the Democratic Lague of Kosovo, said that this party is aware that the option of establishment of the court by the United Nations harms Kosovo, therefore they support establishment of the court by the Assembly of Kosovo.
Ardian Gjini from Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, said that establishment of the special court has a direct impact on the image of Kosovo.
However, deputy speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, from Vetëvendosje, Glauk Konjuvca, once again expressed the position of this movement against the establishment of the court. He made a recapitulation of Serbia’s crimes in Kosovo and stressed that establishment of the court would represent serious damage of Kosovo’ national interest. “This is not a request of the international community, but a direct request of Serbia, which has prevailed,” said Konjuvca. He proposed an alternative resolution with five points.
Prime Minister Thaçi criticized opponents of the court, saying that they are doing this for a few additional votes. “But I can tell you that votes are not gained by blotting the good relations of Kosovo with its international friends,” said Thaçi. In his speech he also mentioned transformation of KSF into Kosovo’s Armed Forces.
