LDK General Secretary, Ismet Beqiri has rejected claims of Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci that LDK is a obstacle for the establishment of Kosovo Armed Forces.

Beqiri said for Radio Kosova that if Prime Minister convinces minorities to vote, there is no problem for LDK. However, he says that LDK would not accept that the establishment of KAF to be conditioned with reserved seats

“If Prime Minister Thaci with his coalition partners convinces non Albanian communities that it should be voted two thirds, then he should bring up this issue in the Assembly and LDK will vote for it, the other things are advertisement and are untrue that only Mister Thaçi can say,” said Beqiri.

The daily newspaper Koha Ditore cites Prime Minister Thaçi to have said that minorities are not an obstacle anymore to pass the amendment for Kosovo Armed Forces, but the obstacle is LDK. According to Prime Minister, minorities have accepted an intermediate solution connected with reserved seats in the Assembly as a condition to vote for the establishment of Kosovo Armed Forces. Thaçi said that LDK did not expressed readiness to accept this compromise. Ismet Beqiri emphasizes that if this issue goes into Assembly in this form. LDK will vote against.

“We will not allow it at any circumstances to be conditioned the voting of KAF with reserved seats of minority communities and LDK holds with its earlier stance, we don’t accept to be extended mandates, because is unconstitutional  action and there is no reason about this,” said Beqiri

Beqiri said that LDK is interested to be finalized this issue before elections. However, he said that this has nothing to do with the will of LDK, but with that if Prime Minister Thaci achieves to convince minority communities to vote for the establishment of Kosovo Armed Forces without any conditions.
