Kosovo Government approves the EU Council of Ministers’s decision to leave open the possibility for Kosovo to sign the SAA agreement once it fulfills all conditions. Analysts in the field of integrations said that the government should be more serious in fulfilling these criteria. Edon Cana, advisor of the prime minister for European integrations, said this possibility is positive and expects Kosovo to initiate SAA next year. “We almost finished all our work and we believe that, beginning next year, we can say to the European Commission that short term priorities derived from the feasibility study and the recommendation of European Commission are fulfilled,” said Cana.
Alternatively, experts of European integrations criticize the Kosovo Government, saying that they should take precise steps towards fulfilling the European Commission’s criteria. Shenoll Muharremi says that EU member states having confirmed the recommendation of the European Commission that Kosovo can start negotiations for SAA when criteria are fulfilled should be considered. But, a more serious approach is needed by Prime Minister Thaçi to fulfilling of these conditions.
