PRISTINA, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) — Pranvera Abazi, 30, from Kosovo capital Pristina was shocked when she saw photos of her 8-year-old son Erion among ISIS fighters in Syria.

Images showed the little boy among other children and ISIS fighters, holding up a finger – a symbolism of the Mighty God – and with ISIS flag.

The sad story for her started two months ago. Her husband Arben allegedly went with their son to Rugova Mountains, in the west of Kosovo, for a holiday.

As she was waiting for their return, she got a message from him saying that he was in Syria with the son: “Pranvera, I’m in Syria with the son. I’ll be back to you later because there is no network here.”

Pranvera was desperately calling for return of her son, as she knew that her little son is living in an extremely dangerous environment.

“I’m living and dreaming all the time for his return. I imagine myself going to the airport to pick him up,” says Pranvera.

Her concern grew even bigger now, because the new school year starts on September 1, and Erion should go to third grade.

“I’m shocked when thinking that on Monday all the children will go to school, while I don’t even know where my son is,” said Pranvera in desperation.

She managed to speak by phone only once with her son. “I could just hear his voice and asked him if he was good, because there are so many loud voices over there shouting we are all brothers,” said Pranvera.

She said she couldn’t believe this outcome, though she admitted that her husband showed signs of a desire to go and fight in Syria.

Kosovo police is considering all the options to find a way to bring Erion home, though their possibilities are so much limited.

Many believed that Erion is not the only little boy from Kosovo among ISIS groups, because a number of Kosovos involved in the war went there with their family members.

A dozen of Kosovo Albanians have gone to Syria to fight with the opposition against the government forces. A couple of them have been killed or wounded, and most of them have remained there despite the calls from institutional and religious leaders in Kosovo that it’s wrong to get involved in Syrian conflict.

What makes it worse, a number of them have joined ISIS and it’s most likely that they are engaged in fights both in Syria and Iraq among ISIS fighters.

Earlier this month Kosovo police arrested 43 people, who either had been engaged in the war in Syria or were planning to go. They are all in detention, while the investigation is ongoing for other suspected members.
