Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic confirmed arrival at the meeting of the European Group of the Trilateral Commission, which will be held in Belgrade from 31 October to 2 November. On the other side, Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga still didn’t confirm participation, was stated from the Serbian ethnic group of this world organization.
Except Jahjaga and Vucic, Ministers of the Government of Serbia, as well as other leaders from the region were invited. The meeting will be held in Belgrade’s Hotel “Crown Plaza” according to the principle “behind closed doors”. The Trilateral Commission brings together people from business and finance, ex-politicians, and it is even called “world’s shadow government.” On this occasion it is expected arrival of between 150 and 180 members of the European group, while all the leaders from the region were invited as guests.
“As a rule, presidents and prime ministers are not invited, but those who have something to say about the situation in their country. Artifete Jahjaga was invited as one of the leaders in the Western Balkans. Serbian Prime Minister and Ministers of Government were invited, as well other leaders in the region and final list of participants will be known till the end of month. There will be plenty of former presidents and prime ministers, as well as guests from Russia and the Middle East,” stated Jovan Kovacic, president of the Serbian ethnic group of this Organization and president of the company East West Bridge.
Sources close to the Kosovo president said that decision on Jahjaga’s participation was not taken, but they point out that the request clearly states that she is invited “not as one of the leaders of the Balkans, but as the president of Kosovo.” “If she comes in Belgrade, that will be the first time that a leader of Kosovo, as the representative of the state of Kosovo, will stay there,” was said in Pristina.
In the invitation, written in English language, Jahjaga was addressed as “President of the Republic of Kosovo”.
