Sixty-three MPs request from President to clarify Point 127

(All monitored broadcasters, TV21&KTV)

After the failure of minority MPs to persuade the President to become a mediator between them and the Constitutional Court, asking clarification for Point 127 of its verdict, the LAN bloc is doing the same thing. Parties of the Bloc which are represented with 63 MPs at the Assembly say that the President is obliged to help out in solving the deadlock.

After the two-hour meeting with leaders and experts, the Bloc’s PM designate, Ramush Haradinaj, also made other institutions guilty saying that they assisted Hashim Thaçi and PDK to block establishment of institutions.

In the meantime, TV21 reported that Vetëvendosje chairperson Albin Kurti did not sign the request that will be sent to President Jahjaga on behalf of VLAN.

Otherwise, in case they get the same response as minorities, Haradinaj said that their actions will be seen at the beginning of next week. To Haradinaj, the first snow in Kosovo is the best indicator how much establishment of institutions has been delayed, while he expressed his determination to free Kosovo from criminal circles.

Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga, responded to the request of minority MPs within 24 hours. In case it happens as the in case of minorities, the Bloc will get a response by the President on Friday.

Agreement between LAN and Vetëvendosje shaking

(KTV)

The agreement between LAN and Vetëvendosje has started to shake. A statement made by Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti, who said that LDK-AAK and Nisma are ‘second league thieves’, has contributed to this.

Vetëvendosje partners, LAN, said that they still have not discussed Kurti’s statement.

LDK also responded to Kurti. Its deputy chairperson Lutfi Haziri said that ‘one cannot know who the thief is without being a thief himself’. He made this statement at KTV’s Rubicon show. Haziri said that Kurti and Vetëvendosje were using double standards.

Thaçi: Kosovo ready to continue talks with Serbia

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV)

Kosovo is ready to continue talks with Serbia. The caretaker Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi assured the facilitator of these talks, Baroness Catherine Ashton and the European Union, about this.

In a meeting held on Thursday in Brussels, Thaçi said that this dialogue was not easy at all. According to him, northern Serbs are now being integrated in Kosovo’s society and institutions.

On the other hand, Baroness Ashton considers that continuation of talks should happen at the earliest time possible.

Kosovo media under political and economic pressure

(RTK2)

Participants of a media debate held on Thursday in Media Centre of Çagllavica concluded that media freedom and freedom of speech in Kosovo are not at the satisfactory level.

In her introductory speech, the Kosovo freelance journalists Violeta Oroshi said that media freedom is the bedrock of any democracy. She said that Kosovo media are not democratic enough, as they are in a difficult economic situation, which is the reason for the thin line in fair reporting.

Zeljko Tvrdisic, Editor in Chief of the Mitrovica/Mitrovicë based Radio Kontakt Plus, said that the journalism profession in Kosovo is detached and that journalists rather deal with propaganda. He pointed out the economic situation that media are in as a reason for this.

Zivojin Rakocevic, a Serb journalist, said that Kosovo media operate within two circles of ghettoes, and that politicians who have the power to control funds that comes to media, play the greatest role.

Zekirja Shabani, Head of the Association of Kosovo Journalists, agreed with his colleagues from the Serb community, saying that journalists in Kosovo work under pressure and inadequate conditions.
