On a front page editorial, Kosova Sot newspaper writes that with the current sharing formula of the parliamentary committees, the opposition is unable to oversee the work of the new government. Out of 14 committees, ten were allocated to the power-sharing coalition parties, while only four were left to the opposition parties. The paper writes that despite the fact that two major parties are in coalition, it is not fair and it is a serious violation of parliamentary democracy if the opposition is marginalized in this way, .
The paper further notes that a smaller number of parliamentary committees would be more efficient and, if the opposition parties were allocated main committees, a more democratic and useful environment would be established for the functionality of the legislative.
Disputes between the parties were also reflected during the yesterday’s session [15 December]. Kosova Sot writes that Monday’s session showed the lack of coordination between political parties, non-reconciling attitudes, violation of work regulations, and, that the assembly was not ready to establish the parliamentary committees. If this delay lasts, it may have consequences, especially when it comes to committees which shall review the draft law on budget for 2015 that was approved yesterday, and according to announcements, will undergo changes during the review in parliament.
