The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, was received today in Rome by the Acting President of the Republic of Italy, Mr. Pietro Grasso. Jahjaga and Grasso discussed the overall development in Kosovo and the region, as well as special emphasis was paid to the Kosovo’s European integration, the commitment on internal reforms, the rule of law and economic cooperation between Kosovo and Italy. Jahjaga highly praised the help that Italy has given and continues to give to Kosovo, especially the support provided through KFOR and EULEX. Grasso, stressed that Italy will continue to lobby for Kosovo and will support Kosovo’s European prospect. He said that Kosovo and Italy must work to expand the bilateral economic relations. He stressed that the Western Balkans region has strategic importance for Italy.
Jahjaga had also another meeting at the European Parliament, where she was received by the President of Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament, Ms. Laura Boldrini. Boldrini said that Kosovo’s future is in the European Union and Italy will support Kosovo on this path.
