Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) and Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija (DNKiM) most sharply protested due to the fact that not even a year after a vacancy has been published for members of the Independent Media Commission (IMC) from the ranks of Serbian and other non-Albanian communities they were not appointed by the Commission and the Kosovo Assembly.

The operation of the IMC without at least two members from the ranks of Serbian and other non-Albanian communities is in violation with the Law on Independent Media Commission, communicated UNS and DNKiM. UNS and DNKiM claim that implementation of the Digitalization Strategy, regulations and rules of procedures for media in Kosovo without presence of Serbian members in the Commission is illegal.

IMC has published the vacancy for the president and members of the Commission on 9 January 2014, after what members from the Albanian community were appointed. In March 2014 vacancy referring to non-majority communities was annulled and new one was published, however the decision on appointment of members from the Serbian community is pending.

UNS and DNKiM, thus, consider operation of the IMC without members of the Serbian community as illegal and illegitimate.
