The European Union officials called on Kosovo authorities not to delay the debate and vote in the Assembly for the establishment of the special court. The European Union Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Maja Kocijancic, told the news site that Kosovo institutions have to set the date for the Assembly session that would address the special court. “It is prerogative of the authorities of Kosovo to appoint the Assembly session and to establish the special court. Kosovo’s determination to prosecute this matter should not be influenced by further delay,” Kocijancic said. According to her, Kosovo has now entered into commitments with the European Union when it approved the exchange of letters between President Jahjaga and former EU High Representative, Catherine Ashton. “The EU has provided all the necessary support and in a timely manner to the Kosovo authorities for the adoption of constitutional amendments and legislation,” Kocijancic said.
