A document written in Cyrillic script, which Ministry of Communities and Returns handed over to Kosovo Parliament, was rejected by the Commission for legislation because of “untypical format.”
The document in Cyrillic was rejected yesterday at a meeting of the Parliamentary Commission for Legislation, chaired by Albulena Haxhiu, from Self-Determination. “As you can see the proposal of the Ministry of Communities and Returns came in a different format, which is not typical for the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo, with the Cyrillic logo of Parliament,” said Haxhiu during the meeting.
She added that the parliamentary bodies must provide the correct interpretation of that document in order to proceed with the consideration of the proposal.
A document written in Cyrillic script, which contains proposals for legal aid, was submitted by the Kosovo Minister for returns Dalibor Jevtic.
He says that the use of the Cyrillic alphabet should not be considered as an obstacle. “My institution respects the rights of all communities in Kosovo, as the Constitution guarantees the rights of all communities. I think that we have to deal with more important issues,” said Jevtic.
Jevtic said that during his work in the ministry he always received the official correspondence only in Albanian, which is also considered a violation of the Law on Languages.
