Several news sites report that around 50 war veterans of the former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) are protesting in front of the Kosovo government building in Pristina. Gazeta Blic reports that some war veterans threw bottles at Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaci and called him “thief” as he was entering the government premises. Indeksonline reports that some war veterans are inciting others to start a riot and a war veteran was reportedly heard telling others to fetch gasoline “in order to set the government building on fire”. A representative of KLA veterans in the Kacanik municipality told Kosovapress that they were stopped by Kosovo Police on their way to join the protest in Pristina. Lajmi quotes Xhevdet Qeriqi, head of the Council for the Defense of the Rights of KLA Combatants, as saying that the special court is an injustice by the international community. “Instead of dealing with Serb criminals who committed atrocities, they are targeting KLA combatants. We call on the members of the Kosovo Assembly not to vote in favor of the special court,” Qeriqi said.
