Mayor of Gracanica Vladeta Kostic presented the municipality’s development plans to Austrian parliamentarians, led by the Austrian Ambassador in Pristina/Prishtine, Gernot Pfandler.

Mayor Kostic informed the Austrian delegation about the main characteristics, current situation and development opportunities of the municipality of Gracanica.

Kostic unveiled three directions of development of the municipality. He said that the municipality was a place of rich cultural development and that it has become the administrative centre for Serbs in that part of Kosovo. He explained that the long-term plan was for Gracanica to become a small town.

He cited development of tourism as the second priority, and most importantly, economy as the third.

A representative of the Austrian Parliament Christoph Vavrík thanked Mayor Kostic at the reception and stressed that Austria would continue to support the development of Kosovo.

“During the two-day visit to Kosovo, we wanted to visit Gracanica, the best example of a multi-ethnic municipality. We are very pleased with the direction of the local government, particularly in relation to non-majority communities,” he said.

After the talks with the Mayor of Gracanica, the delegation visited Gracanica Monastery where they spoke with Bishop Teodosije.
