The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) and the Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija (DNKiM) condemned the demolition of the memorial plaque dedicated to the missing journalists of Radio Pristina, Ɖuro Slavuj and Ranko Perenić, who disappeared in 1998.

On the anniversary of setting the plaque to the missing journalists, the Associations stated that unknown persons again broke and stole a bronze plate, on which was written in the Serbian and Albanian: “Here, on 21 August 1998, disappeared journalists. We’re still looking for them.”   “Desecration of the place where the journalists disappeared and demolition of the plaque was reported to the Police each time it happened. However, the perpetrators were never found. UNS and DNKiM are requesting from the EULEX and the Kosovo police to finally start doing their job responsibly and inform the public what they did so far, in order to find and punish kidnappers of journalists,” reads the statement.

Ɖuro Slavuj and Ranko Perenić disappeared on 21 August 1998 on the road Velika Hoca-Zočište while doing report on the return of the kidnapped monks to the monastery Zočište.
