Despite the fact that it lost its war in Kosovo, Serbian state continues to be proud of its past wars. Many Serbian politicians and veterans continue to cultivate this false pride.

However, the situation towards Kosovo has already changed, at least with regards to one matter. Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has undertaken an interesting step: it has nominated a former KLA member to serve at the Liaison Office in Belgrade.  Xhelal Shaqiri, was nominated to this significant position a few weeks ago. Shaqiri was acting general director of the Ministry prior to being nominated on the new position. This change was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, however, they did not want make further comments, stressing that changes are normal within the diplomatic service. “We do not want to comment internal changes because moving of the diplomats at diplomatic service is normal.” The Serbian state did not object the decision. Furthermore, it did not deal with the case at all.

On the other hand, it is known that Serbia has continually issued arrest warrants for the Kosovars who were part of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
