At the annual meeting of Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) in Kosovo, decision was brought to form a commission to deal with cases of killed and kidnapped journalists, it was announced today.

Budimir Ničić, President of the Association, told RTK2 that the commission would be composed of representatives of the international forces and the Kosovo Police, and representatives of UNS and the Association of Professional Journalists of Kosovo.

“We have similar commissions in the region. The commission would monitor the resolution of cases, had access to documentation of the police and gave recommendations to the relevant authorities. For the commission, political will is required; society and institutions cannot move forward if murderers and kidnappers are at large, no matter of religion and nation,” said Ničić.

He added that cooperation with the Association of Professional Journalists in Kosovo is not good, and that the Management Board of the Association is constantly postponing the signing of a cooperation agreement.

“Cooperation is essential because politicians can easily not to do their job when we are disunited”, concluded Ničić.
