The European Union is considering an option to accelerate the talks between Belgrade and Pristina. In the case of changing the format of the dialogue, there will be no technical dialogue and all will fall under the “roof” of Johannes Hahn.

To speed up the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and to make it more efficient, in Brussels are considering the option to conduct the negotiations exclusively on the Prime Minister’s level, with no technical round of talks, and to shift the process from the Department of Foreign Affairs of the EU to its Directorate for Enlargement .

Dušan Janjić says to Večernje Novosti, in connection to Thaçi’s statement, that Pristina is ready to raise the dialogue with Belgrade “to a higher level.”

– The point is to simplify these discussions. The idea is that the EU, within the sector managed by Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn, form an Office for follow-up of the dialogue which will not interfere in the political agreements of the two sides, but will deliver reports to Hahn, who would “reconcile” the situation: the agreed and fulfilled – says Janjić.

On the question whether the transfer of the dialogue process into the hands of Hahn, will make the dialogue a part of Chapter 35 in the negotiations of Serbia with EU, instead of this chapter to monitor the dialogue, as it has been presented so far, Janjić points that the Action Plan for chapter 35 does not yet exist and they “roam” still at this stage. According to Janjić, once made, this plan will have clear transitional criteria and deadlines for the fulfilment as well as agenda for any other chapter.
