Kosovo’s Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, reported today to the Kosovo Assembly Commission for Foreign Affairs.

Tahiri assessed that establishment of the relations between Kosovo and Serbia is conditioned by recognition of Kosovo state by Serbia.

She said that the same policy has been practiced with other countries of the world. According to Tahiri, the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, mediated by Brussels, has produced historical results. She valued highly the EU role in the dialogue, and added that dialogue helped to strengthen sovereignty in the entire territory of Kosovo, including the north.

“These discussions also helped on normalization of the relations and enabled dissolving of the parallel security structures. We have also added justice structures and we are extending the unified judicial system in the four northern municipalities,” Tahiri said.

She expressed her conviction that some central institutions with local activities will establish in the north very soon. Tahiri said that the security situation in the north has improved and added that low figures of incidents in the recent period are the best indicators for this.

She also stressed that mentality of the Serb population toward acceptance of Kosovo state has also changed, and according to her, this is proved by the vast number of the requests to possess Kosovo documents.

Speaking about the Agreement for the Association of Serb-Majority Municipalities, Tahiri said that there will be no agreement without prior dissolving of all parallel structures, being that this agreement is based on Kosovo laws.

Tahiri said that during the third phase of the dialogue, which will also be the final one, they will discuss issues such as demarcation, the missing persons, recognition of Kosovo and other issues.
