Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Milan Radojević does not expect the Kosovo police intervention in the north of Kosovo in order to take over the control over the Trepča.

“I think it is unrealistic that the police in northern Kosovo react because this is a very difficult and serious task. I’m not saying that Kosovo police will not do it, with the help of other units at its disposal, but we talked already about that with the relevant political factors not only in Pristina, but also with representatives of the international community in Kosovo and we have warned that such an action would be very bad. I am convinced that it could not be even implemented, and would return us to the time of five – six years ago,” stated Radojević in the TV show ”Dogovor” (Agreement), broadcasted on the network of the Serbian television stations in Kosovo.

Political analyst from Kosovo Nexhmedin Spahiu does not believe that such a thing could happen and that such a possible decision would be stupid.

“Things should be done in consultation. It is not even good the Serbian List’s withdrawal from Pristina institutions, after the adoption of the Trepča. I expected that the officials who come from northern Kosovo will ask continuation of the highway Pristina-Mitrovica towards Zvečan, and not to stop it halfway. This government stopped construction of highway on this section in order to construct the highway towards Gnjilane and Podujevo, and I think this is a bad indicator of the attitude of the Government towards the north of Kosovo,” said Spahiu.

Director of Human Centar Mitrovica Veroljub Petronić recalled the evaluation of the Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Ljubisa Diković in a meeting with the KFOR Commander Giovanni Fungo that the unilateral decision of the authorities in Pristina represented a threat to the fragile security situation, and the Italian general has agreed with the evaluation.

“The international factors in Kosovo, including KFOR and the authorities in Serbia seriously are considering the problem of Trepca as a security risk and the potential risk are three and a half thousand workers,” said Petronić  on the show.
