Kosovo’s Justice Minister, Dhurata Hoxha, today participated in the conference “The investigation of sexual and gender-based violence – challenges and opportunities for forensic coordination” organized by the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX). During the conference, Hoxha thanked EULEX and local institutions for their commitment regarding more effective use of forensic techniques in cases of crimes of sexual violence which represent a serious violation of human rights. “It is very disturbing to hear the number of cases of sexual violence and for this there is a great willingness to fight this negative phenomenon. Given the complexity of sexual and gender-based violence, we should establish a better approach, through cooperation between the relevant actors because only in this way we can fight these violations of human rights. We are committed to zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence,” Hoxha said. She also stressed that with the proposal of the Justice Ministry, the government appointed the Committee for Compensation of Crime Victims and prepared the draft administrative instructions.
