The Kosovo Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee discussed today the recently-built wall near the main bridge over the Iber River. The head of the committee, Elmi Recica, said the entire project for the revitalization of the bridge was not made public. According to him, the MPs did not have knowledge of the entire project. Zafir Berisha from the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) said the wall initiative is a continuation of Serbia’s projects for Kosovo’s partition. “This wall was part of secret agreements between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels,” Berisha said, demanding the resignation of Kosovo’s Minister without portfolio, Edita Tahiri. Also the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) MP, Pal Lekaj, said the revitalization of the bridge should unite south and north, not divide. Lekaj said that all the agreements reached in Brussels should be reviewed and the dialogue should be suspended. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) MP, PDK Blerta Deliu said the wall should be demolished because it violates the law and the Constitution of Kosovo.

Member of this committee from Vetëvendosje movement, Puhie Demaku, said that building of the wall in Mitrovica is violating the territory of Kosovo. According to her, building of the wall is a secret agreement that comes as result of the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia.

“Clarification and accountability should be sought by all means. Building of this wall has concreted division of the country. It has been almost six years since this government and the one before it came up with explanation that dialogue is bringing progress while the opposite is happening. It appears that there are many secrets behind this dialogue process with Serbia. Edita Tahiri’s famous snow flake, is becoming concrete now,” Demaku said.
