The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said that he expresses concern and disagreement of the government of Kosovo regarding Ramush Haradinaj’s arrest in France.

He said that the government considers that Serbian arrest warrants for Kosovo citizens are illegal, politically motivated and with clear tendencies to induce tensions and conflicts as well as affect processes in the region and further.

“Immediately after learning the news of Haradinaj’s arrest, all departments of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are put into action in order for him to be released as soon as possible, as leader of the AAK and as an important politician of Kosovo,” Mustafa said.

According to him, the government is intensively working in order for the international security institutions to reject these tendentious and unsubstantiated accusations.

“We have made maximal efforts for Kosovo’s membership at INTERPOL and to increase cooperation with EUROPOL. We believe that with membership at these institutions, these politically motivated arrests would be removed,” Mustafa said.

“I express my complete conviction that France’s institutions will very soon come up with the decision for Haradinaj to return to Kosovo and not to repeat such actions towards Kosovo citizens in the future,” he said.

“Haradinaj was a Prime Minister, he is leader of AAK, of an important political force in the country, he is distinguished for his pro-European orientation therefore we do not see any reason for him to be held further under arrest,” Mustafa said.
