In an interview with Kosovapress, Mitrovica North Mayor Goran Rakic said the wall will not be demolished while Kosovo police special unit (ROSU) cannot go to the north again. “Tensions have increased following recent events and citizens are rightfully concerned. I consider someone wanted to use this situation for political purposes and I appeal to all parties in talks in Brussels to decrease tensions and the top priority should be maintaining peace in these parts because there is no other alternative,” Rakic is quoted. He said the revitalization of the bridge in Mitrovica and the construction of the pedestrian zone were agreed by all parties in Brussels and the wall will not be demolished but only redesigned. He also said that the deployment of Kosovo Police special units to the north to prevent the Belgrade-Mitrovica train from reaching its destination was not supposed to happen without a written agreement from NATO and Kosovo Serb representatives. “ROSU cannot come to the north,” he added.
