Despite the agreement between Pristina and Belgrade for free and unimpeded movement, for those who carry Kosovo documents through Serbia as well as Belgrade and Nis airports, “Air Serbia” still does not accept these documents, reports RFE.
This portal further brings concrete experiences of people possessing Kosovo passports, who were rejected to use this airline to travel to different destinations, with the justification that they should possess a valid passport such as that from Serbia or Albania.
Radio Free Europe contacted Air Serbia and asked what the chances to purchase an airplane ticked possessing Kosovo documents were. The official of this company said that “Air Serbia’ does not consider the Kosovo passport to be valid. “I really do not know how you would buy the ticket. There is no option to buy that ticket,” said the official.
Kosovo’s Minister for dialogue, Edita Tahiritold RFE that this matter will be presented to Brussels at the very first occasion of the continuance of the dialogue. “In the meantime, I have requested from the coordinator of the Agreement for freedom of movement to inform Brussels about this issue,” Tahiri said. She added that this is violation of the reached agreement. “Serbia as a party of these discussions, should have informed “Air Serbia” or this could all be that the company refuses to do so. However, I consider that this is the responsibility of the Serbian party, which in this case violated the agreement,” Tahiri said.
Air Serbia did not yet give an official response on whether they are informed about the agreement.
