The Kosovo Supreme Court rejected the prosecutor’s request for protection of legality in the case “Klecka”, confirming an earlier decision to free a group of Albanians suspected of war crimes.

The prosecution charged the group of suspects, led by the former regional commander of the KLA in Lapusnik Fatmir Limaj. The process began in 2012, with charges of war crimes against civilians and prisoners of war that were committed in the village of Klecka near Malisevo, where during the Kosovo conflict was a camp of the former Kosovo Liberation Army, KiM radio reports.

Kim radio transmits the statement of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija saying that the decision, which “practically legally washed Fatmir Limaj’s biography and his co-defendants”, is maybe a victory for the few but it is the defeat of all citizens in Kosovo who want to live in a society based on humanity and democratic values.

The Office is confident that the decision of the court in Pristina was brought as a part of the election campaign, says the statement and recalls that recently was  suspended and the investigation of crimes against Serbian reapers in Staro Gracko which are shameful examples of political instrumentalization of the judiciary, KiM radio reports.
