Vetëvendosje invites LAA Coalition to join Government led by Kurti

(Most monitored broadcasters, RTK &KTV)

Vetëvendosje Movement invited LDK-AKR and Alternativa to join them in order to form the Government led by Albin Kurti.

Kurti also called on PDK, AAK and Nisma MPs to come together to disable, what he called, another government of ‘Pronto Clan.’

However, nobody from LDK agreed to speak about this on Tuesday.

In the meantime, in an interview with KTV, Isa Mustafa’s partner in Coalition, Behgjet Pacolli, said they are open to cooperation with Vetëvendosje.

Pacolli ruled out any possibility of Government’s establishment with PDK-AAK-Nisma coalition, as, according to him, PDK should move to opposition.

Kurti announced more frequent meetings of this kind during the coming days. He said that President Hashim Thaçi cannot stop establishment of Government by Vetëvendosje.

Otherwise, on Monday, the LDK-AKR-Alternativa coalition agreed that LDK chairman, Isa Mustafa, will represent this Coalition in meetings.

In the meantime, LDK deputy chairperson Lutfi Haziri said that Kurti’s call is delayed. “I think it’s overdue, it had to happen yesterday,” Haziri stated, RTK portal reported.

Haziri said they are united with their coalition partners. “We guarantee that in relation to PDK, the history of partnership is closed,” he underlined.

Simic: Haradinaj will not become PM; formation of Kosovo Government depends on Srpska List

(KTV)

Slavko Simic, Srpska List chairperson, has assessed that Haradinaj “absolutely cannot form the Government” because, as he stressed, “he is aware that Srpska List, together with the Government of Serbia, is directed in institutional and political manner and that it depends on us whether the Government of Kosovo will be formed, or not.”

He stated on Tuesday that this List will not make compromises with the Kosovo Albanian political leaders and that it will “uncompromisingly” protect the integrity of Security Council Resolution 1244 and Serbia’s integrity and sovereignty, KTV portal reported.

With regard to the statement of candidate for Kosovo Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, that the current framework of Belgrade-Prishtinë/Pristina talks was wrong and that recognition of Kosovo’s independence is a condition for continuation of dialogue, Simic said that Albanians “can only dream of the Army and their leaders manipulate with nationalistic statements.”

“Haradinaj is not focused on reconciliation and trust, but he only gives immature and incompetent statements,” Srpska List chairperson told Belgrade news agency Beta.

EU expects sooner formation of Government in Kosovo

(KTV)

The European Union expressed its expectations that upon completion of the electoral process in Kosovo the Government in Kosovo will be formed soon, in order for the important work to advance without further delay.

“We expect all political leaders to ensure, after the conclusion of the electoral process,  a swift formation of the government so that important work related to economic development, the promotion of the rule of law, the EU-facilitated Dialogue with Belgrade and visa liberalisation is advanced without any further delay,”  the EU Spokesperson Maja Kocijancic stated.

Delawie: 11 June elections, an important step for Kosovo

(Klan Kosova)

The U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, spoke about 11 June elections, considering them successful.

“Peaceful, competitive elections were an important step for Kosovo. Concerns of electoral abuse in campaigns and voting must be taken seriously,” he wrote on Twitter, Klan Kosova reported.

British Embassy welcomes EU Observation Mission report on elections

(Klan Kosova)

The British Embassy in Kosovo welcomed preliminary report of the EU Observation Mission and its conclusions.

A statement of this Embassy reads that a strong democracy and a robust electoral system is vital to Kosovo’s progress.

However, according to this Embassy, the preliminary report notes a number of concerns including the intimidation of Kosovo-Serb voters, out-of-country voting, and inaccurate voter lists.

Last ballot boxes sent to Count and Results Centre

(KTV)

On Monday midnight, the last ballot boxes from Prishtinë/Pristina, Gjakovë/Djakovica and Gjilan/Gnjilane were sent for counting, thus only three polling stations have remained to be counted, KTV reported.

It may happen that some of them might undergo re-voting, this TV broadcaster added.

About 20 percent of the material from polling stations has already been processed in the system. And without completing this process, counting of conditional ballots or those that came from diaspora cannot start.

However, conditional ballots will also be subject to verification and they will be compared if persons who casted their conditional ballots have voted more than once.

The Count and Results Centre is working on three shifts and based on what the head of Centre said, the final results are expected to come out much earlier than it was foreseen by the Central Elections Commission.

Out of counting of 99.88% of the votes, PDK-AAK-NISMA coalition has fallen to 33.98%, Vetëvendosje remains the second with 27.12%, while LDK-AKR-Alternativa coalition is ranked the third with 25.74% of the received votes.

Ombudsperson publishes report on electricity billing in north

(KTV, Klan Kosova)

The Ombudsperson published the report in relation to billing of electricity spent in the four northern municipalities of Kosovo.

Ex officio investigations were launched by the Ombudsperson based on reports of a newspaper where it was said that KEDS bills 8 million euros a year from citizens of Kosovo south for the energy spent by Serbs of the north.

The Ombudsperson recommended the Regulatory Office to immediately stop illegitimate practices of electricity billing spent in the north of Kosovo to the consumers at the other part of the country, and to identify an alternative way to avoid losses in the northern part by treating all consumers equally according to constitutional and legal norms.

Kurti: June 11 was political earthquake which obliterated old myths

(Summary of KTV Rubikon show)

The Vetëvendosje (VV) nominee for Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, said at KTV Rubicon that 11th June was a political earthquake where old myths were obliterated.

Kurti said that the people got the courage to turn to VV, adding that they had it enough with other parties.

Explaining why negotiations for a pre-election coalition with LDK had failed, Kurti said that VV could not join a list which had just been brought down from governance.

“We are not spiteful. We are aware that serious allegations have been claimed against us. Now we have far more power. We are not going to be plaintive, nostalgic, nor melancholic. We intend to be full of hope and belief, without any anger, because we have no time to waste. Therefore, today at a media conference I said openly that we were willing to sit at a table, so that we can look at the possibilities for cooperation,” he said.

Kurti says that now it is the time to move forward. He says he is open even for certain MPs of PDK-AAK-Nisma (PAN) coalition, especially those from Nisma për Kosovën.

According to Kurti, PDK can never be a democratic party. Nevertheless, he said that even PDK members may join VV, since some of them, such as Nait Hasani, are different.

“Some reform within PDK is needed, and I do not think that it can happen unless the party is in opposition. If there are individuals within PDK who believe that the reform is not possible, then they better quit the party,” Kurti said.

Although VV has not yet had meetings with LDK-AKR-Alternativa coalition, Kurti believes that such meetings should take place more frequently. “We do not have to wait for PAN to fail so that we come next,” he said.

Kurti criticised the AAK leader Haradinaj for entering coalition with PDK.

Kurti highlighted that the election results of Vetëvendosje represent a great success, comparing it with the liberation of Kosovo in 1999 and with its independence declaration in 2008. According to him, citizens perceive those results as some type of liberation.

He believes that citizens deserve to have their courage and hope restored, and that can be done by providing them social policies and economic development.

Kurti says he does not believe that LDK will enter a coalition with PDK for constituting the next government.

According to Kurti, the only options for Kosovo are joining of VV with LDK, or another election process.

Kurti stated that VV is willing for compromises, but not for bargaining, and added that the change will happen only if the Prime Minister will be from Vetëvendosje.

Commenting on his meeting with the AKR leader Pacolli on Tuesday, Kurti said that the meeting happened by accident. According to Kurti, Pacolli expressed his position against joining PAN coalition, as well as his fear that some of LAA MPs might join PAN.

Kurti believes that the fact that Isa Mustafa relinquished to be nominated for Prime Minister was a positive step for LDK.

Kurti says he is open for a joint government with LAA coalition, and that the cooperation will not start based on red lines.

Kurti emphasised that in a VV government, criminals will be submitted to the state. In his view, it is necessary that judiciary is freed from the executive.

Kurti stated that dialogue with Serbia will not resume at the point where it was left by Minister Tahiri and President Thaçi.

“First of all, we will start dialogue with Kosovo Serbs,” Kurti said.

He added that they would replace the phrase ‘normalisation of relations’ with ‘good neighbourhood’.

With regard to border demarcation with Montenegro, Kurti said he would ask for a meeting with Podgorica authorities to discuss this issue, and an investigative parliamentary committee would be established to analyse what was done by previous committees.

“We are in favour of demarcation with Montenegro; however, the demarcation made by [Murat] Meha and signed by [Hashim] Thaçi and [Skender] Hyseni was a border change. We should prove it to Montenegro. It is not in our interest nor are we capable to spoil relationships with Montenegro. Wars are not caused by disagreements, but by bad agreements,” Kurti concluded.
