PAN leaders promise to constitute government soon

(Most monitored broadcasters, KTV)

The PAN coalition leaders promised to ambassadors accredited to Prishtinë/Pristina to do their best for constituting new government, KTV reported.

The AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj said he assured the British Ambassador Ruairi O’Connell to work quickly and productively in constituting new government.

The PDK leader Kadri Veseli, in his separate meetings with ambassadors accredited to Prishtinë/Pristina, assured them that new institutions would be constituted as soon as possible.

On the other hand, in a statement to media on Wednesday, Haradinaj expressed his optimism for cooperation with LDK, saying that there has been a cooperation tradition which can continue in the next government, as well.

However, LDK is against any possible partnership. In a press release, LDK officials reiterated that no cooperation with PAN coalition was possible.

European Parliament urges Kosovo parties to form a new government

(TV21)

The European Parliament on Wednesday adopted a report by Vice President of the European Parliament and Green rapporteur Ulrike Lunacek on Kosovo’s progress towards the EU. The report was adopted by 474 votes to 134, with 64 abstentions.

Commenting after the vote, Ulrike Lunacek said: “A few days after the general elections in Kosovo today’s vote once more sends a strong signal that the future of the Republic of Kosovo lies in the European Union. First of all this report urges politicians and parties to swiftly form a government with a European spirit to continue Kosovo’s path towards the EU and to move on the way to visa liberalisation, so yearned for by Kosovo citizens.”

“The two remaining benchmarks can and must be fulfilled by Kosovo soon: ratification of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro in the Kosovo Assembly is a must. And of course, the Kosovo government has to deliver on the second benchmark – the track record of high level convictions for corruption and organized crime. On this there has already been good progress, but still the new government must ensure further progress,” she added.

Lunacek reiterated that the positive aspects of last year have been the entering into force of the Stabilization and Association Agreement. According to her, this should encourage especially the five remaining non-recognisers within the EU to move ahead and join the 114 UN member states that have already recognised Kosovo’s independence.

This recognition would be beneficial as for the normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia are concerned, Lunacek continued.

She demanded continuation of dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo as well as the quick implementation of agreed commitments. In this sense, the recent implementation of the dialogue-agreement for a Kosovo telephone code was a step forward, she believes.

EP Vice President also considers the increased participation of Kosovo Serb community in the general elections in Kosovo as another positive sign.

Some Kosovo Serb leaders perceived June 11 as war day

(KTV)

For Kosovo Serbs, June 11 was a war day, and their lives will no longer be the same, KTV reported.

At least this was stated by leaders of two Serb parties, who claim to represent interests of Serb population in Kosovo, rather than those of the Belgrade Government, namely Nenad Rasic of Progressive Democratic Party and Slavisa Petkovic, leader of the Civic Initiative for Prosperity.

It is hardly probable that those two party leaders will have seats in the Kosovo Assembly. According to them, the election process was criminalised.

They stated that few resident Serbs turned out on Election Day, and their future has been questioned, since there will be no one to speak on their behalf.

Petkovic says that Srpska List protects Belgrade interests only.

Kosovo Serbs feel betrayed by local institutions, because they allowed thousands of Serbs who came from Serbia to vote.

On the other hand, the Central Election Commission (CEC) spokesperson Valmir Elezi said that all what CEC did was complying with the Law in force on General Elections in Kosovo.

Serious problems in ten ballot boxes

(KTV)

Out of 189 ballot boxes that have been quarantined, only ten of them contain more serious problems.

This was confirmed following the investigation carried out at the Count and Results Centre.

Burim Ahmetaj, Count and Results Centre Coordinator, told KTV that they shall submit the investigation report to the Central Election Commission (CEC) this Thursday.

“Then it is up to CEC to decide what will happen with those ten polling stations, “ Ahmetaj said.

Violations in those ten polling stations were bigger, with serious mismatches. They are from all different municipalities.

Meanwhile, Count and Results Centre is working in entering data from ballot boxes that have arrived from Kosovo-wide.

Lumezi appreciates cooperation on Election Operational Plan

(Most monitored broadcasters, RTK1)

Kosovo’s Chief Prosecutor Aleksander Lumezi thanked prosecutors and support staff for a successful implementation of the operational plan, and for their hard work in preventing and investigating criminal offences against the right to vote.

“In order to take legal measures against all those who on the Election Day acted against the right to vote, the State Prosecutor responded immediately based on legal procedures, and as a result, charges were raised, and a court decision was made,” the press release reads.

The State Prosecutor would like to inform the public that he will continue investigations on all cases in criminal proceedings, and that they will be prioritised.

Journalist representatives demand prioritization of their cases

(TV21)

Representatives of the Association of Kosovo Journalists (AKJ) met the President of the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC), Nehat Idrizi, where they discussed on prioritizing court cases involving media and journalists.

They called on the Court to appoint a judge or a coordinator for dealing with cases of journalists.

On the other hand, KJC President, Nehat Idrizi, pledged that he will ask judges to increase their efficiency and solve all cases. He also promised cooperation between KJC and AKJ, which as he said, might have positive impact on faster solving of these cases.

Court of Appeals reconfirms sentence against Badivuku

(TV21)

The Court of Appeals has rejected as ungrounded the appeal of the Special Prosecution of Kosovo and the defence counsel related to the case of former prosecutor Vahide Badivuku, thus confirming her judgment issued by the Basic Court in Prishtinë/Pristina in April last year.

Basic Court had found Vahide Badivuku guilty of the criminal offence ‘accepting bribe’ that she committed at the capacity of State Prosecutor and sentenced her to three years of imprisonment. She also was imposed a fine of 5.000 euros and was banned from exercising her function in public administration, or public service for three years.

Daka: June 11 election – best process ever held in Kosovo

(Summary of Klan Kosova Zona B show)

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) chairwoman, Valdete Daka, said that June 11 elections were the best organized elections ever in Kosovo.

“Apparently, the parties have realized that they only win by making good choices, by gaining respect, but Kosovo wins the most,” Daka believes.

“We, as CEC, did everything possible in the organizational aspect. On Election Day, political entities and their commissioners sealed these elections. These were the best elections that have ever been organized in Kosovo,” she continued.

She told Klan Kosova Zona B show that if elections continue to be held in Kosovo with this trend, then there will be nothing more to report in terms of irregularities.

“Observers come to find negative things; if they do not find them, then they should not be there at all. They observe the process closely and find even the smallest shortcomings that spoil this process, but I am happy with the fact that by identifying these shortcomings they have pushed us to achieve this trend. If we move on with this trend, there will be nothing to report in the next elections,” she believes.

Daka also stated that international election observers on June 11 were very pleased with their organization.

“International observers were fascinated that we completed so many operations in such a short time, because there are hundreds of operations that the ordinary people cannot imagine what we face with,” she added.

“The internationals who have been longer and who will also wait for certification of elections and those who have followed this process for only two-three days think that the elections were good and well-organized. There are remarks that do not deal with CEC, but rather with the political reform that belongs to the political parties,” she concluded.

CEC chairperson Valdete Daka said they are working more intensively than ever in counting ballots and results will be announced in two weeks at latest.
