Basic Court in Ferizaj / Uroševac sentenced six workers of the Public Company “National Park Šar Planina”, which functioned in the system of the Republic of Serbia, with the conditional sentence of imprisonment and ordered them to pay EUR 150,000 for the offense of devastation of forest.
“The decision made by the court in Uroševac is extremely political in nature, and the adoption of a property claim is a catastrophic precedent. In the appeal procedure, the lawyers team will try to challenge this verdict,” lawyer Vasić told Radio Kontakt plus.
The Office for Kosovo and Metohija assessed the verdict as a shameful one.
The statement of the Office among other things assessed that “if the Albanian political elite in Kosovo and Metohija want Serbs to be a constructive political factor this practice must immediately cease. The Basic Court in Uroševac/Ferizaj held a demonstration exercise on how the judiciary in a society that pretends to be a democratic should not and cannot function. “
