The sisterhood of the Pec Patriarchate, Serbian Orthodox Church Monastery, during the summer months and in particular over the last few days, in addition to living in isolation and without Serb population in a near vicinity, are also affected by a water supply issue, more respectively with almost permanent water restrictions, Novosti daily reported.
Mother Hartina, the Abbess of the Patriarchate said this to Novosti daily yesterday.
“We never know when the water supply will be cut off, neither have we managed to collect reserves as even when the water comes, usually after our complaints and reaction we send to the representatives of the local authorities, the water pressure is that weak that we barely manage to collect water for the most basic needs,” the Abbess Hartina said.
She said this issue became frequent in the last days when numerous tourists from all parts of Kosovo, central Serbia and abroad are visiting the Monastery.
“It is hard to imagine what impressions they took with them, but the shame is not ours, it is a shame for the entire city of Pec, more respectively local authorities that is obviously exposing us intentionaly to this unnecessary mistreatment and problems at temperatures of 40 Celsius degrees”.
Mother Hartina, also said that orchard and fruit trees they are having around the Monastery is also dried due to the water issue, Serbian media reported.
