The Serbian List submitted its list for mayors and councillors for the upcoming local elections in Kosovo scheduled for 22 October. The candidate of the Serbian List for the mayor of the municipality of Gračanica/Graqanicë is Srđan Popović, the deputy in the previous convocation of the assembly.

Former Mayors – Bratislav Nikolić, Gradimir Mikić, Svetislav Ivanović, Stevan Vulović, Vučina Janković and Goran Rakić – were nominated for the municipalities of Štrpce/Shtërpcë, Ranilug/Ranillug, Novo Brdo/Novobërdë, Zubin Potok, Zvečan/Zveqan and North Mitrovica.

Zoran Todić is a candidate for the municipality of Leposavić/Leposaviq, while for Parteš/Partesh Dragan Petković was registered and Klokot/Kllokot Strahinja Spasić.

In addition to the Mayors, the Serb List also submitted candidatures for councillors.

President of the Serbian List and candidate for the mayor of North Mitrovica, Goran Rakić, said after the submission of the list that their candidates were responsible, brave and honourable people who enjoy Belgrade’s support. Rakić believes that this list will receive support in all municipalities, stressing that the List is “guarantor of Serb survival” in Kosovo.

In addition to ten municipalities with a Serb majority, the Serb List will also have candidates for councillors in eleven other Kosovo municipalities where the Serbs are not the majority.

Civil Initiative SDP – Oliver Ivanović (CI SDP) submitted lists to the Central Election Commission, where Ivanović is running for mayor in the municipality of North Mitrovica.

This list performs independently in the municipalities of North Mitrovica and Leposavić/Leposaviq and in Zvečan/Zveqan municipality in coalition with CI Together for Zvečan (Zajedno za Zvečan). The candidate for the municipality of Zvečan/Zveqan is Dr Dragiša Milović.

In the municipalities of Istok/Istog and Srbica/Skenderaj, CI SDP will have candidates for councillors, said Ivanović for RTV KIM. He also announced the possibility of participating in the list of candidates in the Ranilug/Ranillug municipality.

Ivanović told KIM radio that in Gračanica, CI SDP would not have candidates for council seats. Ivanović says this municipality is problematic due to a large number of parties.

“We are a small party that due to my absence should come to life. I do not think it’s a good idea to get into the clashes that Gračanica can produce,” says Oliver Ivanović for KIM radio. He nevertheless announces the opening of the CI SDP office in Gračanica in the near future. When it comes to the Serbian List, Ivanović thinks that “an electoral struggle will not be fair”.

– Regardless, no unfair conditions can overcome the dissatisfaction of the people that is huge. I am sure voters will give confidence to the right people in whose capabilities they are convinced, Ivanović says for KIM radio.

The Kosovo Serb Party (PKS) has submitted a list for the members of the Municipal Assembly of Leposavić/Leposaviq. The candidate of this party for the mayor of Leposavić/Leposaviq is Dragan Jablanović, who is the current president of this municipality.

PKS doesn’t participate in other Serb-majority municipalities because of the lack of elementary security for the normal conduct of campaigns and elections in those municipalities, announced the PKS.

The Advanced Force of Kosovo (NSK), as RTK2 reports, will have its candidate in the upcoming local elections in Kosovo. Ivan Dimić is nominated for the first man of Ranilug/Ranillug.

The Independent Liberal Party (SLS) submitted candidacies. It is unknown, however, who are the candidates of this party.

The Progressive Democratic Party (PDS) has submitted nominations for mayors and councillors for the upcoming local elections. The president of the party Nenad Rašić recently announced that he would be a candidate for mayor in the municipality of Gračanica/Graqanicë.

RTK2 reports that Rašić did not want to make statements for the media, but confirmed that PDS will have candidates for mayor in Ranilug/Ranillug municipality and that they will have candidates for councillors in the municipalities of Gračanica/Graqanicë, Novo Brdo/Novobërdë and Ranilug/Ranillug.

A newly formed Civic Initiative whose president is Branislav Marković from Gračanica handed over the list of candidates for councillors in the municipality of Gračanica/Graqanicë.

As announced, this list only has candidates for council seats in the municipality, reports KIM radio.
