Normalization of relations with Pristina is an issue directly affecting further progress of Serbia in the accession process, said Johannes Hahn, who welcomed Vucic’s initiative for internal dialogue on Kosovo, Danas daily reported.
The EU Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Commissioner, Johannes Hahn is in two-day visit to Serbia.
The thing is that the enlargement is based on merits by each candidate, and you are holding the key of an EU door, but the EU has to see permanent, irrevocable change in normalization of relations with Pristina, Hahn said during the lecture – EU: Strategic Partnership for Future.
However, to be honest, we do not want to import this issue through the EU back door. I did not come here to tell you that leaders should lead the dialogue, neither I came with ready-made solution, you have to make decision as a society and to focus on strategic wider picture, Hahn further said.
He also added, it should be seen as a historic opportunity to extend a hand to the other side and finding a permanent solution to the issue that is hunting Serbia the way too long.
