Kosovo withdraw its membership candidacy for INTERPOL in order to avoid a debacle similar to the failed membership bid for UNESCO two years ago, the paper reports on page two. The main obstacle for Kosovo’s membership this year is believed to be Palestine’s candidacy. An unnamed source in Kosovo’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs said “friendly countries” requested to postpone the vote on Kosovo because the vote at the same time as Palestine could have diminished Kosovo’s chances. “Because of Palestine’s bid, we were told in different meetings that it is better if we postpone it,” the source said. Other diplomatic sources told the paper that there are ongoing consultations on similar processes.
