Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Veljko Odalovic visiting the RTS News said that the internal dialogue on Kosovo should be opened as widely as possible and include as many of the most referent institutions and special organizations as possible – both civil society and the non-governmental sector.

The internal dialogue on Kosovo begins today. More than 40 professors of law faculties will cast their opinion on the first round table. The debate begins at 10 am in the Palace ”Srbija”. Justice Minister Nela Kuburovic and the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric will listen what are the attitudes of the lawyers on the solution for Kosovo.

“The Faculty of Law took over at this moment the first step, opened the dialogue and it is good that the most eminent professors of law faculties find themselves in one place and discuss in one extremely open manner one a very delicate and sensitive issue,” Odalovic said.

According to him, someone will have to sit down and go through a recent Serbian history. If we return seventy years back we will see that we had certain dialogues that we did not see or feel, Odalovic believes.

“The first dialogue was in 1945 when the autonomous region of Kosovo and Metohija was formed, then in 1963 there was a certain dialogue when we had constitutional changes so we came to the AP of Kosovo and Metohija, and in 1974 we had another dialogue, which was extremely costly for us, and that’s when we got the name AP of Kosovo, when Metohija was erased, and we had another dialogue in the 1990s when we tried to return all these frameworks again,” Odalovic reminded.

According to his words, there was never any dialogue so far that was conducted in one extremely transparent manner with the inclusion of the widest public – these were the dialogues that had been led in the circle of political structures.

“We should not run away from the media dialogue, as well. Why not the editor-in-chiefs sit once, that we talk too,” Odalovic asked.

The dialogue will be extremely transparent, without previous limits and will be open to the media, Odalović pointed out.

Odalovic said that it would be very wise that the political parties themselves organize their round tables if they would not otherwise.

“No policy at this time can be built on denial and negation,” says Odalovic, adding that this is not a responsible approach.

Some of the parties say they will not participate in the dialogue, which is not responsible, Odalovic said, stressing that this is an opportunity to discuss in the public, transparent and professional public at this moment.

“All state officials are subjected individually to pressures, we also hold a dialogue with Pristina in Brussels, but we miss the internal dialogue, and I hope that in the next few months, with a good organization, we will reach one shaped position, but not to be a unified, than how each segments of society look at all this,” Odalovic said.

“Dialogue is not a farce but a real need,” said Odalovic, and stressed that it must be based on material truths.

“We cannot just talk about something without knowing the specific topics, questions and problems,” Odalovic said.
