Serbian judges and administrative staff, as well as their Albanian colleagues, came to their workplaces at the Kosovo Basic Court in northern Mitrovica this morning at eight o’clock.

Sometime after eight o’clock and their Albanian colleagues arrived in a bus and under police escort, reports Kossev.

Whether this court today officially started to work, Kossev failed to obtain confirmation.

Employees of the Basic Court in Mitrovica arrived today after Kabasic was appointed as President of the Court, and Judge Milan Bigovic was appointed as Head of the Appellate Division. The appointment was preceded by the pledge of the oath of 53 Serbian judges and prosecutors, as announced by the Kosovo presidency, or the signing of a “status neutral” statement, as claimed by official Belgrade, Kossev writes.

The head of the Basic and Appellate Courts in the northern part of Mitrovica will be Serbs, who were elected to that position last week. The prosecution will be in the multi-ethnic part of the city known as the Bosniak Mahala with an Albanian at the helm.
