“Relations between Serbs and Albanians on the rise,” said Kosovo Parliament vice-president Slavko Simic during a meeting with Albanian Parliament Speaker Gramoz Ruci, KIM radio reports today.

Kosovo Parliament Vice President Slavko Simic met with Albanian National Assembly Speaker Gramoz Ruci during a two-day visit to Kosovo.

Simic says that the reconciliation between the Serbian and Albanian people is important and that Serbs and Albanians should remain a pillar of peace and stability in the region, according to a statement from the Serbian List parliamentary club.

“Simic said that relations between Serbs and Albanians are on rise, precisely thanks to the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Government of Albania and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who stands for the European future of the entire region, and the integration of Balkan countries into the European Union,” the statement said, reports KIM radio.

The statement adds that the Vice President of the Assembly Slavko Simic emphasized that work should also be done to improve the position of the Serbian people in Albania, to guarantee the right to language and information in their mother tongue, to preserve cultural and national identity in accordance with the highest European standards.

The announcement states that the President of the Assembly of Albania Gramoz Ruci conveyed a spirit of friendly relations that, thanks to the good relations between President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Edi Rama, is institutionally present between Belgrade and Tirana.
