Citing sources in the Election Panel on Appeals and Complaints (EPAC), Gazeta Express reports that this body has decided on a total recount of votes for the mayoral runoff elections in Pristina and Prizren. The decision was made following claims by political parties about alleged irregularities during the Sunday vote. The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) even submitted an official request for a vote recount in Pristina to the Central Election Commission (CEC). Indeksonline reports that EPAC chairman Mul Desku has confirmed the decision on the total recount of votes in Pristina and Prizren. Pristina Mayor and Vetevendosje’s candidate for another term in office, Shpend Ahmeti, took to Facebook to criticize the decision. “The will of the people cannot be changed, regardless of the unfair decisions you make,” Ahmeti wrote. Vetevendosje MP Albin Kurti said the people have already decided who will govern Pristina and Prizren. “You cannot buy the votes of the people. The people decided that they want to extend Shpend Ahmeti’s good governance in Pristina. They decided they want a different government in Prizren with Mytaher Haskuka and for Qendron Kastrati to govern in Kamenica. You can threaten all you want, but your time is over,” Kurti said in parliament today.
