Tahiri determined to compensate victims of sexual abuse during the war in Kosovo (Koha)

Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Abelard Tahiri held today an introductory meeting with the Amnesty International team, respective with Deputy Director Gauri van Gulik, and rapporteurs Sian Jones and Jelena Sesar.

Tahiri informed them about his priorities during the four year mandate as well as the work that is being done in harmonizing legal norms with the international ones in the field of justice.

He mentioned the work of the government on compensating victims of sexual abuse during the war, by managing a dignitary treatment of this sensitive category of the society. He promised that he will be determined to make possible for them complete approach to justice.

Deputy Director for Europe at the Amnesty International, van Gulik offered support to the Ministry on improvement of the policies that would help Kosovo to fulfill international standards of human rights and freedoms.
