Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Fatmir Limaj, said in an interview to the news website that Kosovo is entitled to have its own army and that this initiative will be supported. “Kosovo is a sovereign country and it is entitled to have its own army and no one can deny Kosovo this right. In fact, the Kosovo Security Force is an army; we want transformation, we want to change its name and give it a broader mandate and the capacities of the Kosovo Army. The future army will function like every other army in the world, to safeguard the integrity and sovereignty of the state, to guarantee the safety of its people and no one should feel threatened by this,” Limaj said. He also added that this year the Haradinaj-led government will focus and try to conclude issues such as the border demarcation with Montenegro, visa liberalisation and dialogue with Serbia.
