Belgrade and Pristina have fought the issue of Kosovo recognition to a stalemate, but the battle will continue until they face reality and decide what they really want.
It is hard to believe that ten years have passed since members of the Kosovo Assembly gathered on 17 February 2008 to declare independence. Although the move had been long expected, coming at the end of a two-year UN-led status process, it is easy to forget how significant a step it was, and how much it divided international opinion at the time.
