Vetevendosje has reacted to the recent resignation of Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti from the party saying it was disappointed with the decision. “We thank Shpend Ahmeti for his contribution to our victories and naturally we expect him no less than delivering on the promises he made on the behalf of the Movement in 2013 and 2017,” Vetevendosje said. It added that Ahmeti has enjoyed the support of the Movement and its activists in his daily work and during the election campaign and that it was unfortunate he chose to take the side of those who “have been working for over a year and a half against the Movement, from within the Movement.” “Shpend Ahmeti was one of the most respected figures in the Movement and a great contributor to some good election results. However, alike all of us, he gained more from the Movement than what he gave, a thing he mentioned himself in many public appearances.” Vetevendosje also said that the support it gave to Ahmeti was not to have him be a mayor of Pristina for 100 days but for a whole four-year mandate. “Now, unjustly, the Movement will be in the opposition where we actually won. This is an unusual and unjust position for the voters, supporters and activists of Vetevendosje.”
