Kosovo’s President Hashim Thaci, said today that Kosovo has made concrete steps on strengthening of the rule of law and achieved progress in fighting corruption, adding that there is more to be done on this direction.

He said during the meeting of the National Council against corruption, that war against organized crime and corruption is not an easy one.

“During the last ten years, Kosovo has undertaken a range of actions on the rule of law. Kosovo has endorsed the legislation for this field. Kosovo faced challenges on implementation of the legislation,” Thaci said and added that Kosovo has already fulfilled 95 necessary criteria for visa liberalisation, including delivering results in combating organised crime and corruption.

President Thaci said that Kosovo has gradually increased capacities by appointing judges and prosecutors, and increased the budget for the rule of law institutions as well. Among the laws passed by the Parliament which help fighting organised crime and corruption, he mentioned criminal code, criminal procedure code, law on courts, on Kosovo Police, Anti-Corruption Agency, law on prevention of conflict of interest, and other laws.
