In a response to Indeksonline, the Information Office of this Mission, stressed that Until the end of the mandate on June 14, 2018, the overall direction of the EULEX mission will be to progressively transition the functions and responsibilities of Monitoring and Advising to EU Assistance instruments, as well as gradual leaving of executive mandate as seen necessary.

According to the response, decision on the future of EULEX’s mandate belongs to the EU, always in close cooperation and coordination with local authorities.

On the other hand, Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Abelard Tahiri, said in an interview that Kosovo’s justice system owns capacities to commence its duties in accordance with the laws, without needing an executive mission, such as EULEX.
