Vetevendosje MP Fitore Pacolli said today that during a meeting between the Kosovo Assembly’s European Integration Committee and the EU Office in Pristina, the latter implied that there will be no visa liberalization for Kosovo this year. Pacolli said at the meeting it was said that Kosovo’s authorities have failed to make concrete steps in the fight against corruption and organized crime, the final requirement for visa liberalization. “I just returned from a meeting with representatives of the EU Office where we discussed the fulfilment of the visa liberalization criteria for the fight against corruption. From what we have seen it is very certain that there will be no visa liberalization this year and it is very clear that Kosovo has not made concrete steps in the fight against corruption and organized crime,” Pacolli told Koha Ditore. “Representatives of the EU Office said they were hoping to receive positive proposals from the European Commission … This implies that we haven’t done enough to meet the last requirement … It seems the current government and the political class cannot meet this final requirement”.
