Haradinaj in Vatican: Kosovo recognition, a necessary step (media)

Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, during an official visit to the Vatican today met with the Secretary of State of His Holiness the Pope, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. A press release issued by Haradinaj’s office noted that he and Parolin discussed Kosovo’s achievements in politics and democracy, Kosovo’s position vis-à-vis countries in the region, and economic and diplomatic cooperation. “Kosovo is committed to continue to further its relations with Vatican and we believe that Kosovo’s recognition by the Vatican is a necessary step,” Haradinaj said. He also said that religious freedoms and Euro-Atlantic orientation are Kosovo’s inalienable values. “The state of Kosovo is an important factor of peace and stability and a promoter of good neighborly relations … Kosovo wants to move forward the process of everlasting peace and reconciliation. Kosovo wants to have strategic relations with the Vatican”. Cardinal Parolin encouraged the people of Kosovo for peace, reconciliation and prosperity with neighboring countries and in its path toward Euro-Atlantic integration.
