In an interview to the Tirana-based Top Channel, Kosovo Assembly Speaker and leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Kadri Veseli, said Kosovo is an independent and sovereign country and any agreement with Serbia will have to respect these principles. “Kosovo’s goal is to join international organisations, [gain] a seat at the United Nations,” Veseli said adding that this does not mean it will settle for anything that undermines its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Veseli also said Kosovo has received assurances from the international community that these principles will be adhered to in the process of finalizing agreement with Serbia. Asked about the visa liberalisation process, Veseli pointed out that Kosovo has met all the criteria and that it deserves a positive recommendation. He said he plans to undertake a visit to European Union countries beginning of June in an effort to explain that Kosovo deserves visa liberalisation.
