Residents of the village of Karaceva for several months now have expressed their concern over the presence of Serbian police in the region. KFOR meanwhile says the area is under Serbia’s jurisdiction and allows for the presence of Serbian police there, and it does not allow patrols by Kosovo Police. Selver Lenjani, representative of Karaceva residents, told RTK that Serbian gendarmerie uses alternate routes and also the village roads. Based on a KFOR decision in 2014, Kosovo Police are not allowed to patrol the area of three villages. RTK sent questions to KFOR’s Information Office but received no reply. Kosovo’s Minister for Interior Affairs, Bejtush Gashi, said he will talk with KFOR to start joint patrols in the area. “I will talk with the commander of KFOR to find a solution. There is an alternative solution,” Gashi said.
