It is good that a move was made from a ”dead-point” because the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels was brought into a “frozen state” due to Pristina’s obstruction, Milovan Drecun, the chairman of the assembly committee for Kosovo and Metohija, told reporters in the Serbian parliament.

”What is obvious is that after yesterday’s talks specific topics such as the ZSO have not been discussed or at least no agreement has been reached on it, but it is evident that we are entering a new stage in the normalization process of relations and whose focus will be on creating a legally binding agreement “, Drecun told reporters. He added that the statements of Federica Mogherini and Hashim Thaci point out this, which speaks of “some kind of final solution”, reports the daily Danas.

According to Drecun, now it has been entered into the process of building a framework for this comprehensive, legally binding agreement on the normalization of relations.

“I think that in this format the EU does not have enough sufficient capacity to reach a final solution to the status of Kosmet, since the positions of all three sides are remote. Pristina expects Kosovo to be recognized through this agreement and Serbia to not oppose Kosovo’s membership in the UN, while the EU has no unique position, and the Serbian position is that it will not recognize a false state, nor will it open the door to membership in the UN,” says Drecun, adding that, therefore, President Vucic said he was not a great optimist for reaching a compromise.

According to him, the question is whether there is political will on all sides to reach a legally binding agreement. There is this political will in Serbia, but, as he says, we do not see it at the moment with the Albanians and those Western states behind the secession of Kosovo, reports daily Danas.
