Kurti: Our absolute priority is to avoid elections (Kallxo)
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said on Monday that in the current political circumstances, the absolute priority is to avoid sending Kosovo to new parliamentary elections. He made these remarks after meeting LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku with whom he discussed the election of the Kosovo President. “We need to make sure we have 84-85 votes and this is what the communications and meetings we are having are focusing on,” he said when asked why the Vetevendosje Movement is not proposing Vjosa Osmani for another term in office. “The atmosphere with the opposition has never been more constructive, but this does not mean there are concrete steps”.
Kurti said he believes that everything will go well when the Assembly meets for the election of the President. “I will continue to communicate so that tomorrow or the day after we can get a result and for the election of the president to be successful. For the time being, I cannot say anything new, because on the one hand we don’t have a consensual candidate and we don’t have a political agreement especially after the PDK said that the proposal needs to come from the party and this has further complicated the matter,” he argued.
Abdixhiku: No refusing positions against anyone, let alone against Osmani (media)
Leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) Lumir Abdixhiku said on Monday that this party does not have a refusing position against Vjosa Osmani being reelected as President of Kosovo. “We don’t have any refusing positions against anyone, let alone against Osmani,” he said.
After meeting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Abdixhiku said that no candidate for president was presented at the meeting and that there is no political agreement. “To be honest, I believe it is very difficult to reach political consensus at this point among the Albanian political parties. There is no specific candidate that was presented to us at this point. They have not asked for our votes for a specific candidate,” he said.
Hamza: PDK doesn’t support Osmani for Kosovo President (Express)
Leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Bedri Hamza said in an interview with Pressing on Monday that the PDK does not support Vjosa Osmani for another term as President of Kosovo. “We appreciate the good work that she has done, but she did not have a balanced position with all political parties in Kosovo,” he argued. “We have made it clear that the PDK does not support Osmani for President”.

Ministry waits for assembly approval and president’s authorization to send troops to ISF (Dukagjini)
Kosovo’s Ministry of Defense told Dukagjini on Monday that it is preparing to send Kosovo Security Force (KSF) troops to Gaza as part of the International Stabilization Force authorized by the United Nations based on Resolution 2803.
The ministry said on December 10 last year they got an invitation from the US Command Center to become part of the stabilization force. The first coordination meeting was held in Doha, Qatar, where representatives from around 40 countries attended.
The ministry said that Kosovo’s contribution to the force will include specialized capacities, including demining units, search and rescue teams, and other professional capacities to stabilize and guarantee security on the field.
Kosovo’s constitutional framework requires that the decision for the deployment must be first sent to the government, then to the Assembly and then get a formal authorization from the President.

Kosovo court releases three suspects after €1 million found in van (Prishtina Insight)
The Basic Court of Prishtina ordered the release of three Albanian citizens who were arrested after authorities found approximately 1 million euros hidden inside a van at the Kosovo–Serbia border.
The Basic Court of Prishtina rejected the Special Prosecution’s request for detention and ordered the release of three Albanian nationals arrested after nearly 1 million was found hidden inside a van at the Merdare border crossing, ruling that prosecutors failed to provide sufficient evidence to justify pre-trial detention.
The money was found on February 24, 2026, at the Merdare crossing point by officers from Kosovo Customs and border police.
According to authorities, X-ray scanning equipment detected suspicious materials inside the vehicle, which led to the discovery of cash hidden in an improvised compartment.
The suspects—Aurel Kaziu, identified as a member of the Albanian State Police, along with Ardit Laska and Edmir Ahmagjokaj—were detained that day. All three are citizens of Albania.
On February 25, the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, SPRK, requested pre-trial detention, arguing that the money may have been obtained through criminal activity.
A court hearing was held on February 26, and a decision was issued a day later.
In its ruling, the court found that the prosecution failed to establish a “well-grounded suspicion” that the suspects had committed a criminal offense.
