Mayor of Gracanica, Srdjan Popovic, strongly condemned yesterday’s incident that happened to three high school girls.
KIM radio reported that three girls were hitchhiking, when an Albanian stopped and gave them the ride, but refused to stop on the way to school which is in Laplje Selo. The case was confirmed to KIM radio by Bratislav Trajkovic, a commander of the police station in Gracanica.
Mayor Popovic called the Kosovo Police and all international security structures to take all necessary measures to find the perpetrator of this act. He also urged them to understand most seriously security challenges that Serbs in Kosovo face today.
“Today’s incident is a warning that we must work on increasing security daily, especially at the time of leaving and coming from school. The Serb population in the municipality of Gracanica is very upset and scared after today’s event. I appeal to all students not to enter cars of unknown persons,” said in a statement the Municipality Mayor, Srdjan Popovic.
KIM radio added that the highway Pristina-Gnjilane passes through Gracanica and that it often happens that high-school girls and women are being called out from the car.
